Hidesign Athens Traditional Stone House in Kea

The house was built by stone about eighty years ago and it is restored with care so that it keeps the feeling of its old use. At the same time it provides all the comforts of a modern house and it is easy and relaxing to live in. You can reach the house through the stone paved streets of the old town in 5 min distance from the port (150m Stone Street and 25 steps). It sits on the top of the hill of the old harbor.
Because of the thick stone walls and the traditionally made roof covered by soil the house is very well insulated and also it is very well ventilated with openings in the front and the back. This makes a/c unnecessary during even the hottest days of summer. Nevertheless stand up fans are provided. Outside the kitchen a small porch roofed with bamboo offers a nice spot for breakfast, from where you can see the sea, the town of Korissia, Vourkari and Ioulida.
The veranda in front of the house is a beautiful space facing the sea were you can have dinner watching the moon reflecting on the water and the lighthouse of Kea harbor. A small stone staircase in the back of the house leads you to the garden with a wooden roofed space were you can take a nap in the afternoon watching the Aegean Sea and the island of Evia to the northwest.
